Mary Jean McCorry
1935-2010
It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Mary
Jean McCorry of Fredericton on Friday, March 5th, 2010 at the Saint
John Regional Hospital, wife of Edward W. McCorry. Born in
Fredericton, NB on December 24th, 1935 she was the daughter of the
late G. Dewar and Clara K.(Wood) Smallwood. Mary Jean graduated from
nursing at the Montreal General Hospital. In 1959 she joined the
V.O.N. and held several positions throughout her nursing career in
Canada. She retired in 1991 as Excutive Director of the V.O.N. in
Fredericton.
In addition to her husband Ed, and son Kevin, Mary Jean leaves to mourn her sister, Joan Scott of Fredericton and brothers, Fenton Smallwood of California and Charles Smallwood of Ontario.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Wednesday March 10th, 2010 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Greg Geldart officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary Jean's name can be made to the V.O.N. or the charity of the donor’s choice.
