Mitchell Brian Budovitch

It is with great sadness that the family of Mitchell Brian Budovitch announces his sudden passing on December 28, 2017. Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick on May 16, 1943 he was the eldest son of Frank and Daisy Budovitch.

Mitchell was predeceased by his parents and by his beloved wife Carolyn (McGarvie). He is survived by his son, Jason (May Nogoy) and Amy (Greg Feldman) and by his four precious grandchildren, Cally, Indie and Destin Feldman and Felix Budovitch. He is also survived by his three brothers, Arnold (Judy), Steven and Howard (Rachel), and by his six nieces and nephews.

Mitchell was with his dear partner Rona Caplan at the time of his death.

Mitchell was not a man of great height but his preferred sport in his youth was basketball which he played at Fredericton High and at Acadia University. He remained a sports enthusiast all his life with golf and biking taking over from the activities of younger years. He shared his father’s love of working with people and enjoyed many years with him and his brothers in the family furniture business of Medjuck and Budovitch Ltd,and later in their real estate initiatives in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

Throughout his life Mitchell contributed to Fredericton charities and institutions including the YMCA and the Rotary Club. He was a member of the Sgoolai Israel Synagogue and was a past President of the congregation. He was a strong supporter of the State of Israel and chaired fundraising initiatives often dedicated to reforestation efforts in the development of the state.

In lieu of flowers , for those who wish to make a memorial tribute the family has requested donations to Carolyn Budovitch Brain Tumor Foundation at the Princess Margaret Hospital 610 University Avenue Toronto, M5G 2M9, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

The funeral service will take place in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on York Street on Monday, January 1, 2018 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be in the Sgoolai Israel Synagogue Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at
