Garnella Vivian Nason

Garnella Vivian Nason

On Saturday morning June 9th, 2018, I lost the most precious gift of my life, My Garnella- my wife. She was born in Amherst, NS, on May 31, 1943, the only child of Garnet & Glenna (London) Thorburn of McAdam, NB and later to Fredericton, NB.

I met Garnella on October 31, 1958 at a dance and "walked her home,"  over the Carlton St. Bridge to Devon that was the beginning of a romance that would last for 60 years. In 1964, we were married at St. Paul’s Church in Fredericton, NB. Most of our married life was spent in Burlington, ON raising our two boys, Brent and Rob.

Garnella set her "Standard of Excellence" - she was never in competition with anyone, but she would always maintain the course she set for herself in her personal life, her public life, in her business life and in her Christian Walk. She always excelled and gave her best.

As a Diagnostic Imaging Technician, she became Department Manager. As a real Estate Sales person, she became a Broker achieving many awards. As a Christian, she studied God’s word to the extent she has enough certificates to wallpaper an entire wall. As a gardener, she received the Trillium Awards for Best Gardens 2 consecutive years. As a mother, she gave birth to 2 sons who have always made her proud. As a wife, everyone knows of the 60-year love affair.

In 1999, Garnella was diagnosed with breast cancer it consumed 2 years of her life at the time. But her resilience was such that she became an encourager to many.

Ten years ago, we officially retired to Davidson Lake to the property her father purchased in 1952. Garnella redesigned the building and doubled it in size and turned it into a "city home" by the lake. This is the place she enjoyed from the time she was 9 years old.

She loved "Home" and in all her travels and years, she found true contentment at the lake and she often said "where the pavement ends life begins" She loved life and she loved adventure but she loved home most of all. There is no one living who knew her as well as her aunt Thelma and myself and we both agree –

Garnella – "I will see you at our Father’s House"

Survived by her devoted husband of 53 years, Bill; their two sons, Brent (Gail) of London ON and Robyn (Nancy) of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Ciara, Hannah, Nick and Cody;great grandson, Wyatt; also her special aunt, Thelma. A special thank you to Dr. Hayter and the nurses of 4 North West at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital for the special care given to Garnella these last 5 months, you will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 16th, 2018 at Sunset (Hope City) Church from 12:00 – 2:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 2:00 pm. Rev. Joseph Beesley will officiate with Rev.
