Betty Mavis Stafford

Betty Mavis Stafford

On Monday, September 10, 2018 Betty (McDonald) Stafford passed away peacefully at Hospice Fredericton, with family by her side. Born in Fredericton, NB., she is the daughter of the late Harry and Jean McDonald and wife of Fraser Stafford.

Betty was employed by NBTel right out of school and worked her way up to management, retiring from Bell Aliant in 1996.  Betty definitely had a green thumb.  She loved to garden and her planter boxes were absolutely beautiful.  She thoroughly enjoyed her shopping trips, Spring and Fall, to the States with her girlfriends.  Betty was a big fan of Johnny Cash and an avid bingo player.  The only thing greater than Betty’s love for bingo, was her love for her grandchildren.  They were without a doubt, the light in her eye. The sun rose and set on them and the word "no" did not exist in her vocabulary.

In addition to her husband, Betty is survived by her only son Tony (Rosalie) MacDonald of Fredericton, NB.; step-daughters Wendy (Dave) Shantz of Plattsville, ON and Angela (Scott) Englinton of Forest City, ON.; twin brothers Mack (Lynn) and Mike (Paulette) McDonald, both of Fredericton, NB.; grandchildren Alicia, Andrew and Amy MacDonald, Zane Englinton and Colin Shantz; great granddaughter Samantha "Beanie" MacDonald; nieces and nephews Greg, D’Arcy and Kelly McDonald and several other extended family members and friends.

A private family committal will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory can be made to the Hospice Fredericton.

On behalf of the family, an extra special thank you goes out to the Dr’s, nurses and staff of both Palliative Care at the DECH and Hospice Fredericton for their kindness and compassion.
