Lesly Byram Thompson
Lesly Byram Thompson of Fredericton, NB, passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital at the age of 96. Born in Edmundston, NB, in 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lemuel Byram Estey and the late Isobel Cantley Estey. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Donald and Alexander Estey.
Lesly was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was married for almost 60 years to her loving husband, Dr. W.B. Thompson beside whom she will be resting. Together they built a life on Kings College Road where they had resided for over 50 years. Lesly will be remembered fondly by friends, neighbours and family for her gentle nature and kind spirit.
While in Fredericton she was an active member of Wilmot United Church, the St. Anne's Chapter of the I.O.D.E., and a strong supporter of the ideals of the Fredericton Co-op. On the weekends, she frequently enjoyed time with family and friends either at the family trailer on Grand Lake or playing cards with her bridge group.
Lesly moved to Moncton in 2010 to be closer to family and resided at the ProTem Nursing Home on Gorge Road. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at that facility for their exemplary care.
She will be dearly missed by her son, Donald Thompson of Riverview, NB, and his wife, Rita Lombard (daughters Lysanne and Tara); her grandchildren, Allison McAuley (Joshua) of Riverview, Kevin Thompson (Karilyn) of Halifax, NS; and family friend, Linda Harvey of Fredericton.
There will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held from the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel, 160 York St., Fredericton, on Friday, September 14, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Rev. Ellen Beairsto will officate. Interment will take place in Fredericton Rural Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Lesly's favourite charities - the Canadian Red Cross or The Salvation Army.
