Francis Robert Dobbelsteyn

It is with great sadness that the family of Francis Dobbelsteyn announce his passing at Fredericton Hospice House with his family by his side on November 10, 2018, at the age of 73. Born in Fredericton, NB, on November 11, 1944, he was the husband of the Judith Dobbelsteyn (Grant) of Rusagonis, NB.

In addition to his wife, Judy, Fran is survived by his daughters, Christine Dobbelsteyn (Travis Musika) and her sons Ryan and Kyle, all of Vancouver, BC, and Cynthia Dobbelsteyn (Shone Gracie) and her children Olivia, Orianna and Taylor, all of Fredericton, NB; brother, Joe Dobbelsteyn (Mary) of Fredericton, NB; sisters, Anne Marie Barton (Howard, deceased) of Vancouver Island, BC, and Pauline Mott (Bob) of Fredericton Junction, NB. Fran was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Mary (Cook) Dobbelsteyn; son, Ian Dobbelsteyn; brothers, Ernie and Gerald Dobbelsteyn.

Fran was a devout husband, father and grandfather. Fran was a helper, who had life long friends whom he enjoyed helping. These friends and his family were there for him in the last months of his life to help him and be part of his journey.

Fran was a doer and adventurer. He enjoyed building and flying remote control airplanes, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, gardening, traveling, woodworking, skiing and boating. He harvested trees on his property and made special gifts for his family. One of his best days ever was skiing on top of Whistler Mountain. He liked cruising the coast of Maine, but could have done without the hurricane! Attending the Vancouver Winter Olympics,  Expo 86 and Disney World were special memories.

He was a Eucharistic Minister and on the maintenance committee at Sts. John and Paul.

Fran was an electrician by trade and co-owner of the Dobbelsteyn Group of businesses and the Manager of National Alarms.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff of Hospice House, Oromocto Extra Mural - Palliative Care, Ambulance New Brunswick, and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Emergency Unit for their professional and compassionate care.

A memorial mass will be held at Sts. John and Paul Catholic Church, New Maryland, NB on Friday, November 16, 2018 at 2 pm with Fr. Maria Arokiam Chinnappan officiating. There will be a reception to follow at the church.
