Gary Douglas Flieger

1950-2019

Gary Douglas Flieger

Gary Douglas Flieger of Esteys Bridge, NB, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on February 15, 2019.

Gary had a 30+ year career in law enforcement which culminated as a narcotic dog handler. He was a highly respected dog trainer who intuitively knew how to get the best effort from his dogs.

A lifelong animal lover, he and his wife, Kelly, lived their dream on their small hobby farm, raising and riding horses and breeding solid black German Shepherd dogs. He was a great supporter of the Fredericton SPCA, helping to place high-drive dogs in policing programs across Canada.

Gary valued his family above all. His children and grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He is survived by the love of his life, Kelly Boldon; his daughters, Krista Flieger (Bev McMurtrie), Jackie Kerr (Chris) and Jodi Stuart (Jody); grandchildren, Augusta & Hannah Downey, Gillian & Reegan Kerr, Payden, Wyatt and Avery Stuart; his brother, Byron Flieger (Sandy); sisters, Cheryl & Heather Flieger (Ken); mother-in-law, Millie Boldon; brother-in-law, Rob Boldon (Colleen); niece, Jessica Flieger; nephews, Jonathan Flieger, Guerin Boldon & Conlan Boldon; sister-in-law, BJ Flieger.

He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Marie Flieger, and brother, Robert Flieger.

In lieu of flowers, and since Gary and Kelly met at the Fredericton SPCA, donations made to them, the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.

There will be no funeral service. A visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., Fredericton, on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 from 2 pm - 6 pm. Interment will be at a later date.
