Ezra Levi Aaron DeGroot
It is with great sadness that the family of Ezra DeGroot announce his passing on April 2, 2019. Born in Sarnia, ON, on August 5, 1985, he was the son of Allan DeGroot and Dearl and Elizabeth (Wiarda) Hill.
MCpl DeGroot served as an infantryman with the 2nd Battalion The Royal Canadian Regiment. He enlisted on February 12, 2009 and served on OP ATTENTION in Afghanistan in 2012. Ezra loved his motorcycle, his dog and his muscles. He was a successful boxer, football player and generally excelled at all physical activities. While he was known for his brawn, he had one of the biggest hearts one could find. He was also passionate about music and composed until the day he passed.
He will be deeply missed by his father Allan; mother Elizabeth; brother Elijah DeGroot (Cheryl), their children Selah, Delilah and Elias; sister Jessie Tolton (Greg), their children Levi, Ava and Eden; special friends Brett Mikolas, Mike Oliver, Ashley Williams and her son Tyson Dubois; his maternal grandmother, also known as Beppe, Vicki Wiarda, as well as his extended family, military family and close friends.
Ezra is predeceased by maternal grandfather Heiltje Wiarda, as well as paternal grandparents Anton and Ida DeGroot.
A visitation will be held at J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Monday, April 8, 2019 from 6 – 8 pm with words at 6:00 pm. There will be a private interment at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
