Kathleen Mae Hawkins
Kathleen (Kaye) Mae Hawkins passed away peacefully on May 5, 2019, at Thomas Hall, Shannex Parkland RLC, Fredericton, NB. Born in 1926 in Truro, NS, she was the daughter of Leslie and Laura (Roode) McNutt, and was predeceased by brothers Ivan, Freeman, Truman, Leo, and Layton (in infancy), and by sisters Margaret (George) Truman, Cecilia (George) Kennedy, and Phyllis (Ralph) Graham.
Kaye was for 68 years, until the passing of her husband in April 2018, the loving and devoted wife of Gerald Benedict Hawkins. She is survived by her sons Mark and Paul (Diane), her daughters Kathy (Roseveldt) Sivitilli, and Trish (Norm) Seely, grandchildren Lorena (Ryan), Marco (Andrea), Cristina (Thomas), Gregory, and Christopher, and great-grandchildren Rylan, Clark and Amelia, as well as several nieces.
Kaye was a gentle soul whose abiding love and quiet wisdom were a constant comfort and strength to her husband, children and grandchildren. Her exuberant and loving joy in her great-grandchildren was abounding.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Thomas Hall, and the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, for the loving care they extended to Kaye during her final illness.
At the request of the family there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Dunstan’s Catholic Church, 120 Regent St., Fredericton, on Wednesday May 8th, at 12:05 PM. Interment will take place in the Hermitage Cemetery following the reception.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
