Edith Roberta McConaghy
With much sadness we announce the passing of Edith Roberta McConaghy. Her beautiful soul was set free on Sunday, October 6, 2019 from Hospice House Fredericton. Born in South Devon on November 15, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Allan and Calla (Brown) Sewell.
Edtih graduated from Fredericton High School, attended Mount Allison University and Pond’s Secretarial School. She was employed as a medical secretary in Fredericton, NB, St. John’s, NL, and Halifax, NS. Upon retirement, she and her husband Francis settled in
Oxford, NS and the years spent there were remembered with great fondness.
Edith was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Francis A. McConaghy, her daughter Jane Pineo, her daughter-in-law Penny McConaghy and her brother A. Gerald Sewell in 1943.She will be missed by her daughter Kathryn (Arthur) Arseneau; son David (Barb Swazey) McConaghy; son-in-law David Pineo; 9 grandchildren: Jason (Crystal)

McConaghy (Maggie Hood) as well as 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to being a loving and supportive mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Edith was an avid bridge player and a wonderful hostess.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Edith’s life will take place on Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel at 160 York St, Fredericton. Donations to Hospice House, or in honour of those she loved, to the Canadian Cancer Society will be appreciated.
