It is with sadness that the family of Doreen Jellinek announce her death at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Thursday, October 17, 2019 at the age of 87. Doreen died peacefully surrounded by loving family. Born in St. John's, NL, on March 4, 1932, she was the wife of Tommy Jellinek of Fredericton, NB.
In addition to her husband Tommy, Doreen leaves behind her children; Karen of Fredericton, NB, T.J. (Erin) of Ottawa, ON, and son-in-law Stephen Morrison of Calgary, AB. Grandchildren; William, Thomas, Rosemary, Aiden, Molly, Logan, and Quinn; sister, Betty Butler (Son) of St. John's, NL; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and extended family members. Doreen was predeceased by her parents, William and Gertrude (Bradbury) Knight; daughter, Vicki and siblings, Bill and Daph.
Doreen was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, whose greatest joy was her family. She also enjoyed spending time travelling to various places around the world, including Europe, Australia and snowbirding in Hawaii, but her favourite place was much closer to home, Mactaquac Provincial Park where she spent countless days in all seasons with her children, grandchildren and family.
Doreen was also a long-time and dedicated member of the IODE, serving as Regent of Sir Leonard Tilley Chapter and a term as President of the NB Provincial Chapter.
The family would especially like to thank the staff members of the Oromocto Public Hospital for their dedication, kindness and compassion.
A Celebration of Doreen's life will be held in the summer of 2020. For those who wish, donations in her memory may be made to Hospice Fredericton.
