Lucienne “Lucy” Pelletier
It is with sadness that we announce the death of M. Lucienne "Lucy" Yvonne Pelletier on October 29, 2019. She was born an identical twin in Moncton on January 3, 1951. The double birth came as a shock to her parents Gerene and Roland Pelletier. Naturally, they were double the trouble growing up in Marysville.
As a young woman, Lucy attended Teachers College and UNB, obtaining a B.Ed. in 1974 with additional courses for teaching reading to children with learning issues. She taught the elementary level, first on Campobello Island where she is still fondly remembered by her students and friends, and later at the elementary school in St. Stephen, NB. Lucy ended her career by teaching solely reading during the last 10 years to French Immersion kindergarten and elementary school children in Yellowknife, NWT. There, her teaching skills were highly valued. It had always been her lifelong goal to make sure all children, in her classroom, without exception, learned to read and enjoy learning.
Being a well qualified piano teacher, she taught this instrument to children in her spare time and in each community in which she lived.
She loved the people of Campobello, its natural beauty and unique history. Consequently, she spent most summers at the Owen House. She retired to St. Stephen, NB in the summer of 2017 so she could continue to visit Campobello and attend the summer classical concert series in Lubec ME, presented by the internationally renown, pianist, Bruce Potterton.
Lucy is predeceased by her parents Roland and Gerene (Le Blanc) Pelletier from Rivière-du-Loup, QC and Moncton, NB. She is also survived by her brother Rick Pelletier and his partner Shiela Guichon, Delta BC; her sisters Gaby Marguerite Pelletier, Fredericton, NB; and Francine (Pelletier) and her husband Kevin Dennis, Yellowknife, NWT; as well as her nieces: Sophie, Alicia, and Nicole; her nephew Patrick; and her grand nieces: Emma, Azlynn, Jazmyn, Caitlyn, Briana and Saija. She will be greatly missed by one and all.
By request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at the Fiddlehead Lounge, Parkland, 35 Patience Lane, Fredericton on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at 11 am. For those who wish, donations in Lucy’s memory may be made to Lodge Mgr Henri Cormier, Cross Cancer Institute or a charity of the donor’s choice.
