William (Bill) Beatty

1928-2019

William (Bill) Beatty William (Bill) Beatty

William (Bill) Beatty passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 9, at the age of 91.

He is survived by his wife Marilyn, children Janet (Ian) and John (Emily), and step sons David (Tracy) Stephen (Ja Young), along with nine wonderful grandchildren (William, Taylor, Natalie, Adam, Cole, Ali, Minhee, Max and Sandy) and his loving nieces and nephews, Lyn,  Cameron, Margot, Andy, Jane, Blair and Marcella.  He was pre-deceased by his first wife Beth.

Bill was born in Amherst, NS in 1928.  He graduated from Dalhousie University with his degree in Pharmacy, and later attended the University of Toronto for his degree in Hospital Administration. Bill’s role as hospital CEO was something he enjoyed greatly and took great pride in.  It began at the Ottawa Civic Hospital, and then took him to Yarmouth, NS, back to Peterborough Civic Hospital and finally to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Bill was very proud to have been part of the construction of a new hospital and his role in shaping it.

Bill loved to putter, and was never happier than when he had a project happening at his cottage in Nova Scotia. He spent several wonderful years travelling with Marilyn, including volunteer projects overseas in hospital administration.

Special thanks to the wonderful people at the J. T. Clark Adult Day Centre, and to Bill and Marilyn’s friends and neighbours for their help and support .

A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, November 15 at the Delta Hotel from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital Foundation or the J. T. Clark Adult Day Centre are appreciated.
