Robert Edward Meade
It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Meade announce his death on Monday, November 11th, 2019. Born in Campbellton, NB on April 9th, 1935, he was the son of the late William and Elsa Meade.
As a young man, Robert loved to go out to the family cottage. It is there that he learned to appreciate the beauty held in nature. He was an extremely devoted family man who took the titles of husband and father very seriously. His wife and sons were always above everything else and his kind soul, warm heart and infinite patience was extended to everyone around him. His beloved wife, Joan was his partner in all things. They enjoyed many hobbies together including storytelling, painting and drama. And drama was certainly a driving force in Robert’s life, enjoying all aspects of the theatre. The couple even offered a summer theatre camp for young people called Summer House where they thoroughly enjoyed watching the children’s imaginations and creativity flourish.
Robert enjoyed a long career in teaching, with most of those years being spent at Oromocto High School. Teaching was his passion and he was able to help mold many a student’s mind. It is certain that he affected many students’ lives as many of them remembered him long after their time in high school.
He will be greatly missed by his sons, Bill Meade (Tamara Crozier) of Fredericton and Mike Meade (Tammy Nichol) of Nackawic and his only grandson, Benjamin as well as several extended family members.
Robert was predeceased by his parents and brother, Bill Meade and he was heartbroken when his soul mate, Joan M. (Fontaine) predeceased him recently.
In keeping with Robert’s wishes, an informal gathering to celebrate his life will be held on Sunday, November 17th, 2019 at the Stepping Stone Centre, 15 Saunders Street, Fredericton, NB. Please drop by anytime between 2 and 4 pm. For those who wish, memorial tributes in memory of Robert may be made to the Stepping Stone Centre or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
