The passing of Lorraine Boudreau of New Maryland and formerly of Bathurst, Moncton, Campbellton, and Miramichi occurred Monday, November 18th, at White Rapids Manor in Fredericton Junction. She was 97.
Born in Tracadie, she was the daughter of the late Lazare Roussel and Mary Jane Roussel.
She is survived by daughters Louise Boudreau (Steven Benteau), and Paulette Boudreau-Clark (Ron), all of New Maryland; four grandchildren, Joël Gillis (Zoë Barker) of Squamish, BC, Dominique Gillis of Montréal, Allyson O’Rourke (Brian) of Squamish, BC, and Joshua Clark (Ashley Turnbull) of San Clemente, California; sister-in-law Laurette Roussel of Bathurst, and numerous cherished nieces and nephews and their children.
Lorraine was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Bernardin (Bernie) Boudreau, and several sisters and brothers.
A nurse who worked in the NB Public Health system in Bathurst and in several hospitals in NB, she also taught at CCNB in Campbellton and diligently cared for the elderly in Rogersville.
Fun-loving, feisty, and fun to be around, Lorraine enjoyed traveling with her late husband. She was an avid cross-country skier and swimmer. She also enjoyed playing cards with friends and many say she made the best tourtière around.
Lorraine, affectionately known as Nan, will be greatly missed by her family and all who knew her.
The family would like to thank each and every member of the White Rapids Manor community for taking exceptional care of Mum both when she was well and during her last days. Mum was a nurse and would have said of the staff at White Rapids, "Now that was excellent care."
As per Lorraine’s wishes, there will be no formal visitation. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to White Rapids Manor or to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
