The family is sad to announce the passing of Hester Hobday on Monday, January 27, 2020. Born on July 19, 1927 in St. Martins, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Leona (Bradshaw) Brown.
She started her career in Fredericton at City Hall and also proudly served in the Provincial Government for many years. In her earlier years Hester enjoyed bowling, curling and playing bridge with the girls. She also enjoyed rug hooking and cherished her time with friends and family.
Hester will be missed by her brother Raymond Brown, her step son Larry Hobday (Krista); step daughter Dawn Peters; her dear friends Shirley Hovey and Bonnie Carson as well as many loving friends, nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents, Hester was predeceased by her husband of 30 years, Leonard Hobday; her sisters Doreen Whitehead, Laura Hachey, and Marguerite Olsen; and her brother Bill (Worrell) Brown.
A special thank you is extended to the homecare workers and extramural nurses for all their kind assistance, care and compassion while helping Hester.
There will be a private family service in the spring, In lieu of flowers, donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
