Jeanne D’Arc Fournier

Jeanne D’Arc Fournier

Jeanne D’Arc (Lucas) Fournier (October 23, 1926 - March 1, 2020)

It is with very sad hearts that we say goodbye to our incredible mother Jeanne D’Arc Fournier at the age of 93 who passed away in the early morning hours of March 1, 2020, at Shannex in Fredericton, New Brunswick.   Thank you to all the staff at Shannex who took such great care of our Mom over the years, we will always be grateful.

Jeanne D’Arc, born and raised in Edmundston, New Brunswick, the third child of a family of four girls, was a person with strong drive, conviction and determination.  Her first passion was her family and we all felt her love and wonderful presence over a lifetime of memories.  After she raised her family, she became an artist, her pressed flower arrangements were her true passion and the exceptional works of art she created still blesses homes across the country today.  She exposed her art for many years at « Carré des Artisans » in Edmundston as well as many Christmas art shows.  She was always involved in the community, « Présidente des filles d’Isabelles », « Présidente des Artisans », « Présidentes des Bénévoles de l’hôpital », « bénévole pendant les élections », to name a few.

In her younger years her and our father Germain Fournier (Papa Main) had six children and they both worked hard to accomplish their dreams of raising a good family.  People used to say to Mom, how did you two do it, your children have all been so successful.  Their secret was always sticking together when making decisions raising us. We truly are blessed to have had such a good team leading us, guiding us and taking good care of us.

Our mother, whom the grandchildren and great grandchildren have always nicknamed Maman D’Arc, has been the driving force behind our family for many years.  We have all drawn strength, and felt her love and devotion towards us and this has trickled down to our children and their families as well.  Mom was always ahead of her time, she taught us from a very young age, how to be independent, how to grow, how to manage life’s challenges.  She instilled in us, perseverance, diligence, « savoir faire » and « joie de vivre ».  When we think back we have such great stories to tell.

Jeanne D’Arc was pre-deceased by her father, Calixte Lucas, her mother, Yvonne Soucy, her three sisters, Evelyn (Ron) Dubé, Marguerite (Vernon) Street and France (Hervé) Arseneault, her husband, Germain Fournier and her eldest child, Evelyn (Greg Melling) Fournier.  She leaves her five surviving children,  Louise (Regal) McLean, Gloria (Michael) Allan, Venise (Marc Jourdain) Fournier, Guy (Wilma Barnes) Fournier, Henri (Kim Tetsull) Fournier, nine grandchildren, Éric (Anne Marie Guertin) Lajoie, Alain Lajoie, Douglas (Angela Strk) McLean, Chris Cashabeck, Sean (Ros Boyce)Allan, Lisa (Karel) Rodriguez,  Nicole (JP) Poirier, Jessica Moore, Kath (Andy) Davies, Kirk (Sandra Attalla) Fournier, Holly and Charité Fournier, Allyson and Thomas Fournier, 13 great grandchildren, Alexandre, Andréanne et Valérie Ève Lajoie, Skylar and Ashton Lajoie, Fergus and Nina McLean, Lucy and Malcolm Rodriguez, Lorelei and Annabelle Poirier, Boedy Hulsman,  Kainoa Davies.

We pray and thank you Lord for this strong, beautiful woman who blessed us with her love and presence, we miss her so much already, "Mom, may you rest in peace and do give a big hug to Dad and our sister Evelyn for us".  May God bless.

We love you,
Louise, Gloria, Venise, Guy et petit Henri ❤
