Phyllis Margaret Preston

1942-2020

Phyllis Margaret Preston Phyllis Margaret Preston

It is with great sadness that the family of Phyllis Margaret Preston announces her peaceful passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Wednesday, April 1, 2020, at the age of 77. Born in Winterton, Newfoundland, on October 14, 1942, she was the loving wife of Edward Joseph "E.J." Preston.

Phyllis always greeted you with a smile and a kind word. She would be forever making you laugh or pick you up when you were feeling down. Always there to listen, understand patiently and give you her peace of mind with a little grin. Phyllis was the solid foundation in the family who always made everything right.

Phyllis raised her family of 5 while working in various businesses that they owned over the years. She had been a very hard worker all her life and fantastic mother -the best.

In addition to her husband of 56 years, E.J., Phyllis leaves behind her 5 children that she loved unconditionally:  her sons, Edward Preston of Fredericton, Paul Preston of Ottawa, ON, Frank Preston of St. John’s, Newfoundland, and David Preston of Kingston, ON; daughter, Tamara Preston-Carr of Fredericton; grandchildren, Booker and Bryce Preston of Kingston, ON, and Makayla Carr of Fredericton; siblings, Victor Piercey, Will John Piercey, Linda Piercey, Mary Clancy, all of Winterton, NL, and May Piercey of Ontario.

Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Rose (Walsh) and William Piercey, and 9 other siblings in Newfoundland.

The family would like to thank the following: Dr A. Pond, Dr. Raza, Dr. Swan, Julie Doucet, Dr. Goodyear and Dr. Gillis-Doyle and the nurses at the Dr. Everett Hospital on 3E palliative care unit. They all helped us through this difficult time.

Due to the current Public Advisory of COVID-19 no ceremony will take place at this time, however, a service and a celebration of Phyllis’ life will take place at a later date. For those who wish, donations in her memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Salvation Army Church.
