Charlene Doris DeMerchant
Wherever a beautiful soul has been, there is a trail of beautiful memories. Our beloved Charlene Doris (Wilson) DeMerchant completed her life’s journey so peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2022, while at Hospice House. Born May 8, 1958, in Fredericton, she was a daughter of Karl and Ethel (Pond) Wilson.
Charlene was a dedicated and faithful member of Capital Community Church, and along with her husband, Greg, served in various capacities and ministries within the church. She loved the Lord with all her heart, brought so much joy to everyone she met, and was wonderful at supporting new believers with encouragement and prayer. Charlene was integrally involved in any church outreach ministries that served the community, such as ESL and IELTS training programs.
Charlene retired in 2018 from New Brunswick Community College. She was also actively involved with a quilting club, where she made many lasting friendships.
Her amazing love of family lives on through her devoted husband of nearly 38 years, Greg, and her daughter Nicole (Jeremy), who made her so proud. Her only grandson, Silas, will dearly miss Grammie’s hugs. In addition to her parents, Karl and Ethel, Charlene is survived by her sister, Sheila Hunley (Gary), her brothers Stephen Wilson (Darlene), Clarke Wilson (Nancy), and Keith Wilson (Bonnie), several nieces, nephews and cousins. She had many cherished friends and loved them like family. She touched many hearts and lives during her time here on earth.
There will be a public visitation held at Capital Community Church, 71 Downing St., Fredericton on Sunday, May 1st from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. A service celebrating the life of Charlene DeMerchant will be held at Capital Community Church on Monday, May 2nd at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastors Jack Leaman and Raymond Woodward. For those unable to attend, the service will also be live-streamed at www.capitalcommunity.tv
A private interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish to remember Charlene by way of a memorial donation, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice House Fredericton.
