Robert "Bob" Burridge
Robert Eric ("Bob") Burridge of Fredericton passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022.
He was born to the late Albert and Bessie Burridge in Weaver, N.B., on August 29, 1931, the youngest of nine children. He attended the University of New Brunswick as a Beaverbrook scholar from 1948-1953, studying Electrical Engineering. After two years in the U.K. as an Athlone Fellow he returned to Fredericton and joined the U.N.B. faculty in 1955. He subsequently received an MScEE degree from the University of Wisconsin and a PhD from McGill. He retired from U.N.B. in 1991 after serving for the previous eleven years as Vice-President (Academic) of the university. He remained active after his retirement, serving as President of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers in 1994, among other roles.
He is survived by children Stephen (Laura Doehring) of Ottawa, Colin (Judy Nichol) of Courtenay, BC, and Lori Wishart (Paul) of Calgary; grandchildren Ian, Owen, and Andrew Wishart; many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Ardeth and siblings Erma, Hector, Edna, Margaret, Albert, Ernest, Audrey, and Leslie.
He was a devoted and caring husband and father and a loving grandfather.
For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Brunswick Street Baptist Church Fund or to the charity of the donors’ choice. An evening of visiting at McAdam’s Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service the next day held at the Church, will take place at a date to be announced later in June.
