DANIEL ERNEST (DANNY) CAMERON
The death of Danny Cameron of Fredericton, NB occurred Sunday, April 12, 2009 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital. Born in 1924 in Osgoode, Ontario, Danny was the son of the late James W. and Euphemia (Madden) Cameron.
Danny is survived by his wife Joan (Lynch) Cameron, daughters, Nancy Kay Cameron, Bonnie Delaney and Shelley Cameron. He is also survived by Joan’s daughters Rhonda Vaughan (Douglas), Nancy Lynch (Herbert Thompson) and Lori Lynch (David Beattie). Also survived by brothers Hugh Cameron and Alan (Betty) Cameron, nephew and former business partner Glenn Cameron, friend and former business partner Dale Heustis, as well as several nieces and nephews. Danny is also survived by grandchildren Mark (Melissa) Cameron, Patrick Delaney, Jillian Delaney, Marybelle Cameron Pack, Maggie Vaughan, Stephen Vaughan, David Vaughan, Richard (Maureen) Belding, Peter (April) Belding and Thomas Belding. In addition to his parents, Danny is predeceased by his first wife Audrey (Coristine), brother Leonard and sister Effie.
Danny was a veteran of WWII serving in the RCAF. He was the founder of Atlantic Rentals Ltd., MLA and Leader of the Official Opposition from 1991-1995. He enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, coin and art collecting and restoring horse drawn buggies. He was also a member of the Fredericton Society of St. Andrew, Royal Canadian Legion Branch #4 and Legion Choir, Golden Club and St. Andrews Presbyterian Church.
Visitation will take place at McAdam Select Community Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 4 will hold a tribute service at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 7:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 2 pm with Rev. Douglas Blaikie officiating.
